CISP Checklist - For your complimentary CISP evaluation

What Is CISP and Why Should I Care?

If you are accepting credit card payments, you must comply with Visa’s required Customer Information Security Program (CISP). The Aloha software versions that have been validated against the Payment Card Industry’s Payment Application Best Practices are designed to be used in a CISP-compliant manner. Failure to make your systems CISP-compliant can leave you vulnerable to substantial fines levied by Visa or other card issuing companies potential litigation. If you are running an Aloha version earlier than 5.3.15, you are not compliant with CISP.

CISP is a set of security requirements published by Visa USA, similar to requirements issued by other major credit card companies, in an attempt to help merchants and corporate entities protect themselves and their customers from credit card fraud and theft of cardholder data.

Independent security consultants have validated Aloha POS software products (version 5.3.15 and greater) as conforming to these requirements, when configured correctly. Our urgency in this matter is for your protection, as noted in this document; the fines for non-compliance can be substantial.

Separate from CISP, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FCRA U.S.C. 1681 c(g)) contains two provisions that impact the configuration of an Aloha site. One requires that a payment card expiration date must not appear in print on receipts, vouchers, or other printed documents. The other specifies that no more than the last five digits of a payment card number be exposed in print. Configuring your system to comply with these requirements is your responsibility.
